Os Monstros foi uma série de TV criada ao mesmo tempo que a Família Addams. Foi ao ar no dia 24 de Setembro de 1964 pela rede de televisão CBS . Em 1966 foi lançado o longa-metragem "Monstros à Solta", quando a série já estava em declínio. Os episódios eram em preto & branco, o que foi apontada como a principal causa da queda da audiência, pois perderam pontos quando estrearam no canal concorrente ABC a série colorida de Batman. O filme de 1966 trazia pela primeira vez a família em cores, mas o sucesso relativo do mesmo não conseguiu fazer com que a produção da TV continuasse.

Ao contrário da similar família Addams, que pareciam aristocratas, a família Monstro vivia como uma típica família trabalhadora de classe média dos subúrbios das grandes cidades, apesar da casa em que moravam se parecer com uma mansão gótica de estilo vitoriano. O chefe da família era Herman, mas quem tomava as decisões era a esposa Lily. Herman possui a aparência clássica do monstro de Frankenstein, muito forte e de mentalidade um pouco infantil. Ele trabalhava numa funerária. Assim como Lily, o vovô era um vampiro (ele se vestia como o Conde Drácula dos filmes antigos). O vovô vivia com o casal e as vezes arrumava algum trabalho para ajudar nas despesas. O filho era Eddie, um lobisomem mirim ainda na escola. Havia também a adolescente muito bonita Marilyn, sobrinha do casal, a única de aparência humana. Quando ela trazia um pretendente para casa (o que acontecia com frequência), a aparência de Herman os fazia fugir. Ele e Marilyn achavam que isso acontecia por ser ela "muito feia".

A família se integrava na comunidade, com os vizinhos tolerando-os em função da sua amabilidade para com eles. Mas assustavam todos os que os viam pela primeira vez.

Nova série

A série foi relançada com o título de The Munsters Today, exibida no período de 1988 a 1991, com 72 episódios. Na trama, a família havia ficado adormecida por 22 anos por causa de uma experiência mal-sucedida do vovô. Os atores principais eram John Schuck (Herman), Lee Meriwether (Lily), Howard Morton (Vovô) e Jason Marsden (Eddie). Marilyn foi interpretada por Mary-Ellen Dunbar no primeiro episódio. E Hilary Van Dyke depois. Desta feita a série era colorida, adaptada para os anos 80.

Filmes e Desenho

• Munster, Go Home! (1966). Neste filme aparece o carro "Dragula".
• The Mini Munsters (1973), desenho de 23 minutos exibido pelo canal ABC.
• The Munsters' Revenge (1981), filme para a TV, com o trio de protagonistas original. Eddie e Marilyn foram interpretados por K.C. Martel e Jo McDonnell respectivamente.
• Come the Munsters (1995), outro filme para a TV. Participações especiais de DeCarlo e Lewis, com fregueses do restaurante onde Herman trabalha como garçom.
• The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas (1996). Vovô é capturado acidentalmente por Papai Noel.
• Os filmes de 1995-1996 é o elenco da nova série.

Quadrinhos

A editora Gold Key Comics publicou os quadrinhos dos Monstros, em revista com 16 números (1965- 1968). Nas capas, fotos da série de TV. Houve um movimento do código de ética que proibia vampiros nos quadrinhos da época, mas que foi superado.

Curiosidades

• O filme piloto teve 13 minutos a mais do que a duração normal dos episódios (de 30 minutos). No lugar de Lily apareceu Phoebe (interpretada por Joan Marshall) e o ator que fazia Eddie era Nate "Happy" Derman. Um segundo piloto foi feito.
• Apesar de inspirada em parte na Família Addams, a intenção dos produtores era tão somente reviver numa forma cômica, antigos monstros e mitos e satirizar a família de classe média americana.
• Foi filmada na antiga Universal City.

• A série foi redublada e remasterizada para a sua exibição pelo canal a cabo Nickelodeon no bloco Nick at Nite.
• Seus originais estão em perfeito estado nos Estados Unidos.
• As cópias atuais precisaram ser remasterizadas, pois os originais que vieram ao Brasil, estavam muito danificadas em imagem e banda de som. Considera-se hoje a redublagem atual feita na Mastersound melhor do que a original da DublaSom Guanabara, por riqueza de detalhes na redublagem , sincronia e atualizada com temas dos dias de hoje; embora a ausência da dublagem original crie algo mais que uma simples nostalgia, pelo fato da mesma não só fazer parte de um clássico, como também expor um retrato histórico não só da tv brasileira como da própria sociedade na época de suas exibições.

• Alguns apontam como o autor da idéia da série Bob Clampett, um cartunista que nos anos 40 vendeu a idéia de uma família de monstros suburbanos a um estúdio de filmes, mas na época não foi produzida. Os desenhos se perderam.
• Yvonne De Carlo levava 2 horas para se caracterizar com Lily Monstro. O toque final era uma enorme peruca feita de cabelo humano.
• Em um dos episódios da série "Os Simpsons" (o episodio de dia das bruxas), começa com cada um dos membros da família transformados nos membros da família Monstro, Homer era Herman, Marge era Lily, Bart era Eddie, Lisa era Marilyn e o Vovô era o Vovô, até que os membros da vizinhança chegam e matam todos, deixando só Lisa viva, ai ela sai assoviando e o episodio então começa.

T. J. Hooker (br: Carro Comando) é uma série televisiva, que foi produzida nosEstados Unidos de março de 1982 a maio de 1986, perfazendo um total de 92 episódios. No Brasil, a série foi exibida na Rede Globo (somente as duas primeiras temporadas), de fevereiro de 1983 a julho de 1985. Depois, a série foi para o SBT, que exibiu a série até o seu final, de agosto de 1985 a fevereiro de 1988. A TV Record exibiu de agosto de 1994 à Março de 1998.

Ao trabalhar como investigador à paisana em uma de suas inúmeras missões, o sargento Hooker (William Shatner, famoso por interpretar o Capitão Kirk, na sérieJornada nas Estrelas), acaba tendo o seu parceiro assassinado. Após tal episódio, Hooker decide voltar para a Academia de Polícia, com o objetivo de treinar os jovens cadetes da academia, dando-lhes um misto do treinamento acadêmico, com a experiência vivida nas ruas, com o objetivo de limpar a cidade de Los Angeles de gente como a que vitimou seu antigo parceiro. Hooker dividia seu tempo entre o treinamento de cadetes e a patrulha das ruas, sempre sob a supervisão do Capitão Sheridan (Richard Herd). Entre os cadetes que se destacaram na academia estavam o jovem Vince Romano (Adrian Zmed), incansável parceiro de Hooker nas ruas, se tornando grandes amigos, que se trabalhavam com a unidade código 4ADAM30. Em outro lado das investigações estavam o veterano agente Jim Corrigan (James Darren, famoso por interpretar o cientista Tony Newman, na série Túnel do Tempo) e Stacy Sheridan (Heather Locklear, famosa como Amanda Peet, na série Melrose Place), que era filha do Capitão Sheridan. Corrigan e Sheridan trabalhavam com a unidade código 4ADAM16.

Curiosidades

• Aproveitando a onda deixada por outra série policial, Chips, tal série foi um grande sucesso, tanto nos Estados Unidos, quanto no Brasil, pois a série refletia a vida cotidiana dos policiais, com e sem a farda, cuja imagem foi melhorada.

• No final de cada episódio, o personagem Hooker não perdia a chance de dar uma lição de moral, que, na maioria das vezes, sempre era aplicada ao caso que estava investigando.

• A série começou com uma personagem feminina, a Oficial Vicky Taylor (April Clough) na primeira temporada, mas a personagem saiu no final da primeira temporada. A solução foi colocar a atriz Heather Locklear para interpretar Stacy Sheridan, a filha do capitão. Como a participação da personagem foi crescendo durante a série. Consequentemente, a série ganhou uma grande legião de fãs femininas.

• Foram lançados inúmeros brinquedos referentes à série. No Brasil, os brinquedos foram fabricados pela Glasslite. Nos Estados Unidos, tais brinquedos ficaram a cargo da empresa Fleet Wood.

• Apesar de ser parte integrante da série, o ator James Darren, que interpretava o detetive Jim Corrigan, não tinha seu nome creditado na abertura da série. Isso foi corrigido a partir da 3ª temporada, quando seu nome passou a constar da abertura.

• A série teve a participação de atores consagrados em seus episódios, como Leonard Nimoy e jovens promessas, como Sharon Stone.

• A série já foi lançada em DVD nos Estados Unidos, mas não há previsão de lançamento no Brasil.

• William Shatner deu algumas "dicas" de como deve ser um policial de TV e se referiu ao seu papel em T.J.Hooker, ao aparecer como ele mesmo no filme "Showtime" de 2002.
